Texas Infant Dies After Being Hit by Truck
On Saturday, March 17, 2012, an eighteen-month-old San Antonio infant, Byron Pizano, was hit by a truck driven by his aunt. The aunt was moving her vehicle, which was apparently parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Cincinnati Avenue, when she accidentally pressed her foot on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. The infant was playing in the driveway directly in front of the vehicle so when the accelerator was pressed, the truck ran him over. According to Fox San Antonio, a man who was driving by and heard the crash stopped and scooped up the child, who was bleeding profusely. The man told police that it was obvious the boy’s injuries were serious, and that his head looked “soft.” As the infant was rushed to the hospital, the neighbors also witnessed the child’s traumatic injuries. The infant was hospitalized in critical condition for several days. After struggling for his life, the infant passed away on March 20, 2012 at University Hospital in San Antonio. Currently, the local police are unsure as to whether or not criminal charges will be filed against the aunt. However, even if the police do not charge her with a criminal act for the accident, the infant’s parents may still chose to sue her civilly by filing a wrongful death lawsuit in Texas state court. If you have found yourself in such a situation, you need a sensitive, but aggressive San Antonio car accident attorney.
